Scott’s Story

Working with Dr. Nick has been an incredible experience! I’ve seen several practitioners over the years for recurring low back, knee, and foot pain— issues that have consistently impacted my golf game. What sets Dr. Nick apart is his golf-specific expertise and comprehensive approach. He thoroughly evaluated not just my physical condition, but also my swing mechanics and overall biomechanics, which made a huge difference.

My ultimate goal was to enjoy golf without being distracted by pain or tightness—and I’m thrilled to say I've made tremendous progress. Dr. Nick’s specialized, detail-oriented treatment is truly one of a kind and has finally addressed the issues I’ve struggled with for years.

My Approach

At Integrated Rehab and Performance Center, we approach rehab and performance through the lens of the golf swing. Every goal can be evaluated, assessed, and approached by comparing the bodies capacities to the requirements of the golf swing.

Now here is a detail that I only get to discuss with a few patients/ clients. The secret of Integrated Rehabs big difference maker is not through the golf swing. Or by commitment to strength and motor control. The beauty of the clinic is that it is focused on movement. Precise and specific movement, joint by joint. Only then can we make sense of mobility restrictions, pain, and recurring unwanted swing characteristics.

Understand the detailed insufficiencies of your movement, compare these deficiencies to your swing characteristics, and create a golf focused plan to restore movement from the ground up.

Pain, chronic pain, and golf performance benefit from the restoration and integration of these movements into swing patterns. This is how we design the comprehensive exam and our plan going forward.

The Comprehensive Exam:

In our day 1 comprehensive exam, we aim to better understand the extent of your mobility, stability, and motor control along with your specific pain or injury diagnosis and swing characteristics.

Outlining the comprehensive exam, we have 5 major sections. First, we use Selective Functional Movement Assessment testing to get a better sense of which global movements (involving multiple joints) are restricted and how you go about creating these patterns (motor control). We want to make sure over the course of the treatment plan that these patterns are getting better (improving mobility and motor control integration).

Second, we do a TPI physical exam. This exam is similar to the SFMA, but more specific to golf. This helps tell us where we need to look closer and gives us fantastic data to compare to throughout the treatment plan as we begin to re-integrate our mobility and strength into the golf swing.

Third, we do thorough biomechanics and joint mobility testing, assessing every relevant joint for its passive range of motion capacity. It is important to understand how much movement we can get out of each joint before compensation begins.

Fourth, we do our orthopedic and special testing. When we have pain present, we need to understand better what tissue exactly is involved and to what extent. We also use this section to do special functional testing that is patient specific.

Last, we will do a swing analysis, looking to find swing characteristics that may be associated with the patients’ physical restrictions. We can use this data to help prioritize which physical restrictions are most important and give us additional context for treatment.

Taking The Next Steps:

The first thing we do is schedule a discovery call. Here, I can learn a bit more about you and your history. This gives me the opportunity to make adjustments and add specific testing for our comprehensive evaluation to come. I have the opportunity to give you all the details on the clinic and answer any questions you might have as well. We usually have patients or clients book a call on my calendar link, but referrals from Scott can simply text me at the clinic number (585) 478-4379. Let me know who you are and that Scott sent you and I will make it a priority to get back to you quickly!

As we finish the call, we can schedule a comprehensive evaluation from there. This detailed exam is $275.00, but direct referrals from Scott will get this exam for no charge. With this information, we will patterns begin to emerge. This patterns will become the backbone of our treatment plan design.

At this point, I will have recommendations on the best way to move forward to achieve your goals!

Text Dr. Nick at (585)478-4379 and let me know that Scott sent you! We’ll schedule a time for a call.
